About The Artist - M.C.Gillis
M.C. is short for my given name Maureen Clare.
I love to draw and write.
I love to play guitar and sing.
I love to exercise and climb trees.
I love to work and move and do.
I find it very difficult to sit still.
I don't think I am going to grow up.  I think I will stay young for as long as I live, at least until I am one hundred and one.

All photos on this page, except the B&W one,
 are the work of photographer
Sonny (J. V.) Polnick.

These photos show some of the things I like to do.

The black and white photo is me, age 6, ready for my first day of school. The rest of the photographs were taken within the last ten years.

I think we all have so many talents and abilities.

I believe with enough desire, patience and persistence, we can learn just about anything.

My interest in photography and music began when I was a teenager.  I love the arts, science and adventure.

I want to keep learning and growing and changing.

That's what keeps me happy and young.

A Brief Biography About The Artist - M.C.Gillis

I was raised in Lexington, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, rich in natural wonders and history.  An eye for for detail and an appreciation of variety developed, as I explored the  swamps, meadows and woods of my hometown.  My love for nature and the arts began at a very young age.

During my teen years, I became discouraged about my dream of being an artist (visual, musical and martial).

The road, to this place and time in my life, has not been a straight and narrow path.  Navigating through a variety of schools, working situations, dwelling places and relationships, I became a strong, creative, flexible, adaptable, and caring human being.  I am thankful for the difficulty of the journey.  These strengths serve me well.  They were especially helpful when I taught elementary art at a school with children of diverse backgrounds.  That was a time of great learning for me.  I have over thirty years of work experience in a variety of fields.

Due to the abundance and variety of opportunities I've had to express my creativity, I consider myself wealthy.  I am passionate about growing in love, wisdom, consciousness, and healing wholeness.  I love people.  I want to make a difference in the world.  I believe we all can.  It's obvious the planet needs some loving, isn't it?  I put my whole heart into my work.  Life and art are works in progress.

Peace!  Paz! Shalom!                                     To the top
